Google Tests Removing the Option to Display 100 Search Results on One Page

Google Search appears to be testing the removal of the feature that allowed users to view 100 results on a single page. When the so-called &num=100 parameter was added to the end of the search results URL, it would sometimes work and sometimes not.

This was first noticed by the user SEOwner on X, and many others have been able to reproduce it. The issue is that it works in some cases and fails in others, which suggests that Google is testing the change.

Some users see this behavior while signed in to Google, others while signed out, and some in both cases. In my case, the &num=100 parameter works when I am signed out, but no longer works when I am signed in.

I prepared a comparison video in which the parameter does not work on the left-hand side, while it works on the right-hand side.

This may also affect certain rank-tracking tools, which is something you should keep in mind.

Update:

The feature has now stopped working entirely. As we expected, this has significantly disrupted tools used to monitor Google search results.
